A negative calorie diet plan is one that consists of foods deemed to have a negative calorie value.
A negative calorie food is a food that is purported to require more food energy to be digested than it provides. By eating such foods the theory is that this will result in a calorie deficit leading to weight loss.

Foods claimed to be negative in calories are mostly fruits and vegetables such as grapefruit, lemon, lime, apple, lettuce, celery, broccoli and cabbage.

This is why the negative calorie diet encourage you to eat plenty of healthy foods. In doing so you are actually increasing the speed of your metabolism and creating a larger calorie deficit.
