Top 30 Weight Loss Tips-Tips 21-30
21. More reasons to get active
Regular activity has many benefits including burning calories, improving mood, increasing energy levels and burning muscle.
The more muscle you have the more calories your body will burn as muscle burns much more calories than fat.
A small increase of 3 pounds of muscle in your body is sufficient to burn enough calories to lose 10 pounds over a year!
22. Get spicy
Add hot spices to your food to boost metabolism. Spices are often used in herbal diet pills as is well known that such they increase energy levels and burn additional calories.
Spices also add flavor to food meaning that you can cut back on fat and still have tasty food.
Great spices and herbs to use which are all on low calorie or contain no calories include herbs, spices, lemon juice, curry powder, capers and most of all, chilli.
23. Nutritional labels
If you are buying pre-packaged food make sure that you read the nutritional labels. Don’t be duped into a quick glance. You need to check portion size and the number of portions included in each pack. Calories can often be double what you thought.
Make sure you compare different brands as well. There can be a big difference in calories in products between brands.
Remember that low calorie foods are not necessary low-fat foods. Low-fat foods can also contain a high proportion of sugar making such foods high calorie.
24. Bulk your diet with low calorie foods
Make sure that the bulk of the foods in your diet are low calorie natural foods. This is the best and the most healthy way to lose weight. Such foods include vegetables, fruits and salad. Also included are beans, pulses and low-fat dairy foods.
You can make some tasty meals based on these foods. Thick nutritional soups are a great way to eat filling low calorie meals. You can make such soups almost exclusively of vegetables whizzed in a blender to give a thick texture.
Alternatively a salad made with different varieties of vegetables plus some cottage cheese makes a tasty low calorie meal.
25. Drink
Make sure you keep your liquid intake high. Have at least eight glasses or cups of low calorie drinks each day. Increase this if you are exercising or are experiencing hot weather.
Drinking plenty of fluids helps you to feel full and avoid hunger pangs.
Great drinks to include are vegetable juice such as tomato or vegetable juice, low calorie drinks in moderation, plenty of water, soda water and hot drink such as green tea or black coffee.
26. Learn to say ‘no’
Just try it a few times and it becomes easier every time. We mean say no to naughty or excess food by the way! Many people are used to eating everything on their plate or if there is a little portion of food left they feel that they should eat less. Remember you do not have to. You are in control of how much you consume. Do not treat your body as a bin just because there is some food left.
Practice saying no and this becomes easier and easier over time. Just think of all the calories that you are cutting out by doing this…
27. Out of sight out of mind
The more you focus on food the more likely you will feel the need to indulge. TV adverts, street banners and radio ads can trigger food cravings leaving you reaching for the nearest chocolate bar.
Don’t succumb to temptation. Put it out of your mind.
28. Limit portion sizes
Make sure you are careful when it comes to portion sizes. You can more than double your calories so easily by being careless with portions. Diet plates can help but overall you should go easy on high calorie foods and bulk your meals are with fruit, vegetables and salads.
29. Eating out
Eating out calories can be higher than you think. It is difficult to keep track of the number of calories in restaurant meals. Hedge your bets if you know you are going to be eating out, cut back on calories before the event and ‘save’ some for your meal out.
Avoid salad dressings and meal accompaniments such as garlic bread, bread on the side with butter or meals in creamy sauces. Instead ask for your salad dressing on the side and go for meals with tomato based sauces. Ask for side accompaniments of vegetables or salad rather than chips or onion rings.
30. Self-Belief
Remember to believe in yourself and know that you can achieve your goals. Remember that errors are a way of life and learn to deal with these rather than use the odd diet mishap as an excuse to break off your diet for a while.
Dieting gets easier as you go along. It gets easier to say no to tempting foods and easier to control your appetite as your body adjusts to a healthier lifestyle.
Focus on your dieting goals and the reasons behind why you want to lose some weight.
Know eventually you will get there and it will be worth it.
