Not the X Factor TV talent show but syndrome X. This is a form of insulin resistance where sugar levels are raised. It is a pre-diabetic state linked to obesity and health problems.
A big indicator you are suffering from Syndrome X is a distended belly like a muffin top or beer belly. The roll of fat associated with such an appearance is believed to directly affect the liver and pancreas situated underneath.
The cause is sugar in the diet. Hence many celebrity diets ct out or limit the amount of sugar drastically.
Britney Spears aaparently shed a stone by curbing her sweet tooth and cutting out sugar.
Katie Holmes, Julia Roberts and Beyonce Knowles supposedly all like something sweet but in order to keep their celebrity slim figures they keep a close eye on sugar intake.
Cut out sugar in obvious food and drink items such as sweets, desserts, fizzy drinks and processed foods. Also limit the amount of sugar you add to food, such as sugar added to tea.
Celebrity diets X Factor diet plan
The celebrity diets X Factor diet plan shares its premise with the Atkins diet plan. It works by limiting carbs to control blood sugar levels which reduces the amount of insulin released into the blood stream. This encourages the body to burn it’s fat stores as its main energy source resulting in weight loss. By controlling insulin levels, this diet also helps alleviate the condition called Syndrome X also knwon as insulin resistance. This condition makes us susceptible to being overweight or obese.
The X-Factor Diet has two programmes to follow. These are the Ketogenics or Insulin Balance depending on how much body fat you need to lose. Both are basically low-carb, high-protein diets Ketogenics is a more strict plan suitable only for women of over 35 percent body fat and men of more than 22 percent body fat. This X Factor diet plan limits carbs to 20g a day. This is compared t the approximate 250-300g per day that most of us eat! The diet plan recommends 50 percent of calories are derived from protein, with 20 percent from carbs and 30 percent from fat sources. the X Factor Insulin Balance diet plan is lower in protein and higher in carbs. On this diet plan 35 percent of calories coming from protein, 35 percent is from carbs and 30 percent from fat.
High-carb foods such as bread, potatoes, rice, cereals, pasta and beans are prohibited. More fruit and vegetables are permitted on the Insulin Balance diet plan. Small portions of lean meat, chicken, fish and eggs are allowed. So far as the fats allowed, the choices are fats that are rich in healthy monounsaturates not cream, butter and fried food.
