A doner kebab is a popular takeaway meal. It consists of pitta bread, salad, which is usually shredded lettuce or cabbage and doner meat which is a mix of brown meats, usually beef and lamb. The doner meat is cooked on a large poll, sliced off and stored over a hot plate ready to make up the kebabs. The doner kebab is then served with a choice of sauces, usually garlic mayonnaise and chilli sauce. In addition green jalapeno peppers are sometimes added. Finally the kebab is served with small chips or thin fries. The meat, fries and salad are stacked onto the open pitta bread and the doner kebab is usually served in a carton.
